Getting in Early for Plugin Development

I'd like to get in as early as possible to develop plugins which extend functionality for Space features.

Is there a path forward for this yet?

Example

For myself, I love playing Planning Poker, but I don't think I've seen any solid and clean (and fun) integration of Planning Poker into any project management system, only external tools.

I'd love to see this.  I'd love to build this for Space.  At the very least I'd love to get up to speed on Kotlin development and see where it takes me.

If possible, I'd like to get in on the ground floor with plugin/additive feature development for Space, as early as possible.

Is this ground floor available yet?  Is there some sort of EAP for Space plugin developers?  A secret society perhaps?  (I want a decoder ring!)

I'm already sold on Space; it's the team/project tool I've been looking for years (and we're only in the EAP) so I want to jump on this and hit the ground running.

I've read the API Playground documentation. I've gone through the community and blog posts  I can't tell if what I'm looking to find exists yet or if there is something big I'm missing.

The closest thing I've found so far on the subject is the community post titled Agile Plugins, but it's mostly people expressing what they want other people to create.

I'm looking for information on being the creator.

Thanks!

Hi Blurr!

It seems that you are on the right path already, as you have found our API Playground. I would say that it's the best resource we have at this point, and additionally, you can have a look at https://www.jetbrains.com/help/space/resources-for-developers.html which describes OAuth flow, some basic information about apps and API, etc.

You can already start extending Space, but for now, you can rely on HTTP API only, as Apps extensibility is not released yet (and there is no open EAP for it.) I've added your request to our internal tracking system so that we send you information as soon as Apps extensibility is available for testing.

I've checked Planning Poker and you will definitely need some Apps functionality for it, so it's not available at this point.

I hope that helps!

Yes, this helps a lot.  Seems as though I've already gone as far as I can go and I'll just have to keep my sensors out for changes to Apps extensibility.

Thank you for the reply.  I look forward to the next phases.  I love what Space is so far.

"For a big team an adoption of the product will be too expensive because there's no way to use the product in connection with other tools like Jira, Jenkins, GitLab and so on. At least it was declared so – the product contains everything you need without a chance to use outer app even if it plays its role better."

I really hope that there will be a way to write integrations and I believe the community will help with that.

It'll be definitely possible to write integrations, we are working on it.

I also definitely agree with the integrations being very important. I'm using Rocket Chat as well, hosted on my own server to keep cost down, and would expect it to be a no brainer to link this with Space through some sort of API or Webhook. Jira, and other Atlassian product, are heavily used in my small company and integration with Space would be essential for all of these or things are going to get pretty fragmented.

I'm pretty impressed with what I've seen so far in Space, you are definitely on the right track.
